Claire Howard’s
studio and home is located on her farm, Lindenwood, in the beautiful
agricultural reserve of rural Maryland. Her children describe the farm as
one big painting, and it is indeed a heartfelt rendering of historic barns,
flowers and pastures blended with the loving spirit of family, friends, and
animals. The farm is a love story, a story she shares with her college
sweetheart husband.
Her studio is situated behind the old farm house, once an old chicken coup,
surrounded by roses, herbs, and growing vegetables. From her western window
where she paints, she can watch the ever changing luminous sky rearranging
itself throughout the day. This glorious sky is a frequent subject in her
work. At twilight, her favorite time, the sunset melts its spectacular
colors and clouds like memories into the faraway mountains. Lindenwood Farm
is also home to her sheep, cows, and Labradors, all of whom are frequent
inspiration and subjects for her paintings.
“It is all this beauty and love that I try to bring together in my painting
and hold in my heart.” The magic of painting enables her to share this joy
with you. |
